R&D scientific committee

Our scientific committee is composed of high profile professors, scholars and engineers, as well as less experienced individuals working in STEM fields. They are all volunteers and are affected to reviews depending on their interests, skills and time availability.

This review panel ensures a scientific approach and a fair distribution of AESA’s donators financial support.

More than 12 reviewers participated in the RFP in 2022. Meet some of our panelists below.

Diana Ter-Ghazaryan is a GIS specialist, educator and researchers with 15 years of experience in applications of geospatial technology.

Tigran Antonyan

Tigran has a software engineering background who has been working on big data since the early days of data engineering and data science boom. A data enthusiast who has been leading data engineering teams, currently the VP of Data Engineering at Spotter, he has been helping companies with big data projects as a consultant for the past several years with hands on work and as an adviser for companies of varying sizes helping with efficient and high performance data processing pipelines using open source distributed data processing technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink and Apache Kafka to address batch and real time processing needs.

Serj Danielian

Serj attended California State University, Los Angeles for my BS in Biology (2014), and MS in Biology (2016). He completed his Ph.D. in Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology (2022) at the University of California, Riverside. Serj is a conservation biologist and he built population models in which he explored the concept of Synchrony and causes of extinction in Metapopulations (a group of connected populations). He has been teaching Biostatistics (BIOL 3000) and Professional Writing in the Life Sciences (BIOL 3200) at California State University, Los Angeles since 2016.

Minas Tanielian

Minas received his Ph.D. in Semiconductor Physics from the University of Chicago in 1981 and joined the Gould Research Center in the VLSI Technology group. He later moved to the Digital GaAs Operations (a joint venture between Gould and Nippon Mining Co) as a manager of development of MESFET technology.

He joined The Boeing Co in 1987 as a manager at the High Technology Center where he was responsible for the development of advanced electronic packaging for aerospace applications. He subsequently became a member of the Boeing Research and Technology group, as manager and senior manager of Microsystems and Electronics Technology. During that time, he also served as Chief Scientist for the Electronics, Communications, and Sensor Technology. He is a Boeing Technical Fellow and a Fellow of the American Physical Society. He retired from Boeing in 2020. During his career at Boeing, he managed and led mostly externally funded research projects, such as DARPA programs in electronic and sensor system integration, metamaterials, RF systems, quantum systems, and other micro- and nano-systems.

Minas has published over 65 papers in refereed scientific journals and several book chapters. He has been granted 68 U.S. patents and was the recipient of the Boeing Special Invention Awards in 2000, 2004, and 2006. He is currently an affiliate associate professor in the department of electrical engineering at the University of Washington, where he mentors student-led projects mainly in the area of engineering solutions for health problems. experience in applications of geospatial technology.
