As Esri’s Chief Technology Officer for Enterprise and AI technologies, Jay Theodore guides the long-term vision of the ArcGIS system, designed for enterprises and infused with advanced Analytics, Data Science and AI techniques.
With a strong commitment to innovation, Jay is passionate about harnessing transformative ideas to increase the value organizations gain from location intelligence, geoscience, computer science, and technology. He takes great pride in working with outstanding software developers, architects, product engineers and program managers. Lately the team has been working on advancing the cloud-native enterprise platform (microservices, container orchestration, automation, distributed multi-cloud & hybrid-cloud patterns, cloud data lakes and cloud data warehouses), creating a comprehensive spatial analysis and data science capability (with Python Notebooks, Knowledge Graph Analytics, Spark-based GeoAnalytics Engine), and advancing ArcGIS as a comprehensive and powerful Geospatial AI platform.
As a Geospatial AI Platform, an integrated and intelligent next generation modern GIS is emerging, reinforcing the vision of one platform, for every enterprise, helping users and their missions using advancements in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI and more… from GeoAI pre-trained models to intelligent assistants to agentic automation, enhancing productivity and accelerating data-driven decision making.
Jay earned a master’s degree in computer science from Florida Institute of Technology, where his research focused on finite element analysis and modelling (FEA/FEM), computer graphics, and composite structure design for the International Space Station Freedom. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering.
