AESA NY/NJ Section 3rd Anniversary BanquetNORWOOD, NJ – On Saturday evening, May 5, the Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America, New York-New Jersey (AESA NY-NJ) Section, held its Third Anniversary Celebration of its inception at the Madeleine’s Petit Paris Restaurant, in Norwood, NJ.
The proceedings began with welcoming remarks by Hovhannes Mardirossian, Chairman of the Anniversary Celebration Banquet, followed by introduction of board members by Aram Setian, President AESA NY-NJ Section and a brief review of the past year activities by the Vice President Dr. Garo Khanarian.
The event was well received and very successful, attended by many members, students and supporters in the Armenian engineering and scientific community. Also present were Dr. Lawrence Najarian, President and Dr. Garbis Baydar representing the Armenian American Health Professionals Organization (AAHPO), which is a partner and co-sponsor of several AESA NY-NJ initiatives. Additionally, in attendance was Garnik Nangulian, Executive Director of the Foundation for Armenian Relief (FAR). The gathering enjoyed the upscale venue and excellent hospitality.
Vahan Tanal, AESA NY-NJ Section Chairman of the Mentoring Committee, gave a warm introduction of the guest of honor and speaker Dr. Tavit Najarian, CEO of Najarian Associates, Inc. a very successful businessman, brilliant MIT Sc. D graduate engineer and prominent philanthropist. Dr. Najarian’s presentation focused on the activities of the Armenian National Science and Education Foundation. As one of the co-founders and the first chairman of ANSEF, he illustrated the foundation initiatives, successes and challenges. He recognized that AESA and ANSEF have similar objectives and commended on the successful progress of the AESA NY-NJ Section. Dr. Najarian’s family and friends attended the banquet, adding their support to this celebratory event.
Media coverage began preceding the event on April the 15th thanks to Dr. Vartan Abdo of the Armenian Radio Hour of New Jersey, who posted the announcement and conducted live interviews with Dr. T. Najarian and V. Tanal. The event received television coverage by the Voice of the Armenians, directed and produced by Karine Kocharyan, courtesy of Vahan Tanal.
